Modern combis are getting more complex, with each company trying to outdo the next with features beyond the understanding and requirements of most people. This detracts from the combis' main strength of being easy to install and use. The majority of users simply need the unit to act as a high-performance constant current battery charger when on mains power, and as an efficient inverter when on battery – and that's it!
The problem with enhanced functions is that they eat up valuable power. Even if they are not used, they increase the quiescent current (the current the unit uses to operate). Complex combis can use as much as 9.5 amps, whereas the Pro Combi uses as little as 2 amps.
Sterling has reversed this trend by stripping away unnecessary features, saving money and lowering critical quiescent current draw. The result is a straightforward product that does what it should, tailored to meet the needs of 90% of combi users.

There are two main models: the ProCombi-Q (quasi-sinewave) and the ProCombi-S (pure sinewave). The ProCombi-Q is suitable for most installations, like microwaves, fridges, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, etc. The ProCombi-S is required for sensitive equipment like washing machines and bread makers.
If you purchase a ProCombi-Q and later find you need a pure sinewave, Sterling Power offers a 6-month exchange/upgrade policy to upgrade your unit for the difference in cost and shipping.
